Ventral Phalloplasty: Your Guide to Genital Contouring

Ventral Phalloplasty, Genital Contouring, Dr. Robert J. Cornell

While ventral phalloplasty may sound like a major undertaking, in reality it’s a fairly simple procedure that delivers big results. The goal behind a ventral phalloplasty is to remove excess tissue that may be covering up the true size of your penis.

But surgery is still surgery, no matter how minor, and you want highly competent hands performing the procedure, like those of urologist Dr. Robert J. Cornell. In practice for almost 15 years, Dr. Cornell has had extensive experience bringing out the best in his patients in the Houston area, giving them renewed confidence when it comes to the sensitive subject of penis size.

If you’d like to unveil your full penis, here’s your guide to genital contouring.

The cover up

Your penis is meant to change in size, and your body accommodates this by giving you excess tissue that can handle the task. But sometimes nature has been overly generous, giving you far more tissue than you actually need.

The skin we’re talking about here is what’s called “redundant tissue” that stretches from your scrotal sac to part way up the shaft of the underside of your penis. In some cases, this skin can cover a full third or more of your penis, essentially camouflaging the full length of your penis in folds of skin.

The solution

The premise behind genital contouring in this instance is to remove this redundant tissue to reveal the true length of your penis and to give it more definition. Ultimately, the procedure makes your penis look larger, whether it’s flaccid or erect.

The process

If you’re dealing with excess scrotal skin, the best way to find out whether a ventral phalloplasty is right for you is to come in and see Dr. Cornell. During your initial appointment, the doctor sits down with you to review your goals, your current health, and your medical history. He then performs a physical exam to determine what sort of effect genital contouring will have on the appearance of your penis.

If he finds that you would benefit from this minor procedure, we can set you up with an appointment.

On the day of the ventral phalloplasty, we prep the area by shaving and cleaning it. Once the tissue is free from anything that might interfere with the procedure, we give you a local anesthetic for your comfort.

At this point, Dr. Cornell marks off the redundant tissue and quickly excises it, putting in sutures where needed.

When he’s finished, you’re free to go home.

The recovery

Since this surgery is fairly minor, there isn’t much downtime. That said, it’s still surgery and you should be mindful of keeping the area clean to avoid infection. You should also avoid strenuous activities for a period of time, so that you’re not putting any stress on the surgical site or creating a sweaty environment.

You may feel some discomfort after your ventral phalloplasty, which can usually be addressed by over-the-counter pain medications, as well as a bag of frozen peas, which will serve you well as an icing technique for pain relief.

The entire recovery process shouldn’t take long, and Dr. Cornell supplies you with complete aftercare instructions. He’ll follow up with you shortly after to remove sutures, check on the site, and make sure that your recovery is progressing smoothly.

In no time at all, you’ll be ready to show off your “larger,” more defined penis.
